Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival – Vientiane
Arrivals at Vientiane International Airport by fly. Greet and welcome by our local guide & transfer to the hotel for checking in (Early check-in possible upon rooms available).

  • Option 1: We start to visit the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo, which housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. Then visit Wat Sisaket, with its thousands of miniature Buddha statues. We continue to see Patuxay Monument, which is Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph. We also visit the national icon of Laos, That Luang Stupa.
  • Option 2: You can relax and enjoy a few drinks watching the sunset over the Mekong River, explore the Night Market and take in some of the city’s nightlife. Overnight in Vientiane.

Day 2: Vientiane 
Have breakfast at the hotel. 

  • Option 3: We head out of the city and make our way to Nam Ngum, a huge reservoir created by damming the Nam Ngum River.  On arrival at Nam Ngum Lake, we embark on a motorboat visiting one of the islands for one and a half hours. We take a short walk to explore the lifestyle of the local fishermen. On return, [if time permits], perhaps you might want to experience gambling at the legal Lao casino located in the valley where you can also enjoy a beautiful view of the lake. We return to Vientiane at the evening to see the sunset over the Mekong River and explore the Night Market. 
  • Option 4: We start to visit The National Museum, formerly known as the Revolutionary Museum, which exhibits artefacts, photos and legends of Laos’s fighters and leaders from ancient times to the revolutionary, Pathet Lao, period. We also visit Buddha Park (25 km to the South of Vientiane)which are approximately 200 religious images dating back over 500 years, which were created by a mysterious monk spreading his philosophy on life and revealing his ideas about the universe. Overnight in Vientiane.

Day 3: Vientiane – Vang Vieng - Vientiane
Breakfast, either you wish to depart Vientiane for your home country or you may extend your stay 1 more night to experience Laos as your choice of travelling below.

  • Option 5: We drive 165km away north of Vientiane to enjoy the countryside of Laos where there are the most beautiful landscape and limestone karst caves and river. We return to Vientiane by late evening. Overnight in Vientiane.

Note: To those who wish to make overnight in Vang Vieng, your extra charge will be applied subject to the level of accommodation require! 

Day 4: Vientiane - Departure (B)
Optional, you might need to extend your stay in order to match your departure flight.


Add-On Tours from Vientiane:

  1. Vientiane – Half Day City Tour
    • You will be picked up from your hotel for a half day city tour with our local guide. We explore Vientiane capital by visiting the major sights of the capital; including the oldest temple Wat Sisaket with thousands of miniature Buddha statues and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo, which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. Enroute to Lao’s national precious heritage, the famous and sacred structure of ThatLuang Stupa, you will have the opportunity to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument, which is well known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph. Then, you will be transferred back to your hotel.
  2. Vientiane – Full Day City Tour
    • You will be picked up from your hotel for a full day city tour with our local guide. In the morning, we explore Vientiane capital by visiting the major sights of the capital; including the oldest temple Wat Sisaketwith thousands of miniature Buddha statues and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo, which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. Enroute to Lao’s national precious heritage, the famous and sacred structure of ThatLuang Stupa, you will have the opportunity to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument, which is well known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph. In the afternoon, we continue visiting the rest of Vientiane by foot, including Wat Ong Tue, Wat Inpeng and Wat Haisok. We pass by the major shopping area continuing to the Vientiane Central Market of Talad Sao where various goods are displayed for sale; including fresh food, household goods, souvenirs, textiles, gold, silver and antiques. We return to the Mekong Riverside in the late afternoon for observing the sunset. Then, you will be transferred back to your hotel.
  3. Vientiane – Half Day City Tour + Buddha Park

    • You will be picked up from your hotel for a city tour & Buddha Park with our local guide. In the morning, we explore Vientiane capital by visiting the major sights of the capital; including the oldest temple Wat Sisaket with thousands of miniature Buddha statues and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo, which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. Enroute to Lao’s national precious heritage, the famous and sacred structure of ThatLuang Stupa, you will have the opportunity to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument, which is well known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph.
    • In the afternoon, we transfer out to see the Buddha Park, an enchanting collection of Buddhist and Hindu sculptures on the Mekong Riverside meadow, near the Friendship Bridge. There are approximately 200 religious images dating back over 500 years, which were created by a mysterious monk spreading his philosophy on life and to reveal his ideas about the universe.
    • Then, you will be transferred back to your hotel.
  4. Vientiane – Buffalo Mountain (Full Day Tour With Lunch)

    • From your hotel, we will be transferred from Vientiane to Ban Hatkhai, where a long-tail boat takes us up-stream on the Nam Mang River, before continuing along the smaller HouayXai stream, one of its many tributaries. A 2 hours trek passes under an evergreen canopy, while slowly gaining height. 
    • A picnic lunch is served on the way. The magnificent pair of waterfalls, Tad Xay and PhaXay and only about 800 m apart, are particularly beautiful and thundering during and after the rainy season. Tad Xay has a pool which is great for bathing. We'll be there in the early afternoon. From here, a pick-up takes the group to Ban Hatkhai, from where we return to Vientiane.
    • Approximately: 2 ½ hours transfer/ 1-hour boating / 2 hours trekking
    • Note: In the dry season, when we are not able to take the long-tail boat on HouayXai stream due to low water, we continue the boat ride further up-steam on the Nam Mang to start our trek at another point. (3 hours trek)
  5. Vientiane – Nam Ngum Lake (Full Day Tour With Lunch)
    • In the morning, we head out of the city and make our way to Nam Ngum, a huge reservoir created by damming the Nam Ngum River.  We stop over at Ban Keun, which is famous for its salt extraction plant and a village that distils the local Lao whiskey. On arrival at Nam Ngum Lake, we embark on a long tail boat visiting fishing villages in the various islets. We take a short walk to explore the lifestyle of the local fishermen. 
    • We return to Vientiane by late evening.
