What is included in the tour

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Mumbai
Once you arrive in Mumbai, assemble at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus. Enjoy a traditional welcome with garland and Tikka. Complete the check-in formalities and go aboard the Deccan Odyssey train. Settle in your designated cabin and enjoy your welcome drink. You are free to explore the luxurious state-of-art facilities of the train as it starts moving towards its first destination, Vadodara. Dinner and overnight stay onboard.

Day 02: Vadodara
On day 2, the train enters the royal city of Gaekwards. After breakfast, de-board the train for partaking in sightseeing. The 2nd day includes a visit to Champaner, home to very popular UNESCO World Heritage Site of Pavagadh Archaeological Park. Sightseeing is followed by high-tea and refreshments at Laxmi Vilas Palace, the former residence of the royal family of the area. Later, dinner and overnight aboard the Deccan Odyssey.

Day 03: Palitana
On the 3rd day of the tour, Deccan Odyssey reaches Bhavnagar. After relishing sumptuous breakfast, de-board the train for a day’s expedition to Palitana. This town is home to the very popular group of Jain temples. Also known as the ‘City of Temples’, Palitana is located on Mount Shatrunjaya. One of the most sacred places for the followers of Jainism, there is a group of 863 marble-carved temples. Back onboard the train for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 04: Sasan Gir - Somnath
As the train arrives in Sasan Gir, have your breakfast and get down from the train. The day is scheduled for wildlife viewing at the Gir National Park, accompanied by a naturalist. Founded in the year 1965, this sanctuary is the only home of the Asiatic Lions in the world. This national park is also home to deer, antelopes, the big cats, snakes, tortoise, pythons and several bird species. Back on-board for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 05: Little Rann of Kutch
The 5th day of the tour is scheduled for exploring the exotic Little Rann of Kutch. This marshy salt land is placed quite close to the Great Rann of Kutch in the state of Gujarat. This sanctuary is home to the largest population of Khur or the Indian Wild Ass. Declared as the Indian Wild Ass Sanctuary, it is listed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites. This place also has a vast variety of birds including cranes. Dinner and night-stay aboard the Deccan Odyssey.

Day 06: Modhera - Patan
Patan is an 8th-century fortified town which is renowned for its forts, lakes, holy places and a world heritage site. Deccan Odyssey would be reaching this historic town by the morning. After having a sumptuous breakfast, head onto a drive to the sun temple at Modhera. Dedicated to the Sun God, the temple is an architectural masterpiece of sandstone. Besides the intricate carvings, the temple complex has a total of more than 108 shrines. After that, you would be visiting the world heritage site of Rani Ki Vav. This 11th-century stepwell is one of the biggest in Gujarat and is a beautiful example of subterranean well architecture. Guests would also be visiting the traditional home of Patola sarees in Gujarat. Then, return back to Deccan Odyssey for lunch. Spend your evenings watching the tapestry of rural India as the luxury train makes it run towards Nashik. Overnight stay on Deccan Odyssey.

Day 07: Nashik
Dedicate this day to explore the whereabouts of Nashik. By the break of the dawn, Deccan Odyssey would be reaching the city. As you are done with your breakfast, embark on a visit to one of the most ancient Jain and Buddhist cave temples in India, Pandu Leni. Some of the caves are as old as 1st century BC, while the others belong to the period around the 13th century. Nashik is also one of the largest wine producing states in India. Thus, guests would be taken to a visit to Grover Zampa vineyards, which is the finest wine facility in Gujarat. Savour different wines of Chenin, Chardonnay and Shiraz grapes, brewed from traditional old methods. In the evenings, feel free to walk along the sacred Godavari Ghats. Post that, return to Deccan Odyssey as it makes it’s runway back home to Mumbai Lunch at the vineyard, Dinner on board.

Day 08: Mumbai (Departure)
Bid farewell to Deccan Odyssey as it reaches Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Railway station in Mumbai. This marks the end of the wonderful Gujarat tour
